What it changes in the music
Filter resonance can sharpen a sweep or make a particular region more prominent. Strong settings may dominate the oscillator or create an unexpectedly large output change, depending on the design. Test at a safe level and recheck different notes in the phrase. A resonant accent can be musical, but it should not be mistaken for a general improvement in clarity.
A small experiment
Move a low-pass cutoff over a short phrase with low resonance, then cautiously add emphasis. Match output level and listen for whether one note now jumps forward.
Keep this distinction clear
Resonance is not simply brightness. It can emphasize a relatively narrow region rather than lifting the entire high-frequency spectrum.
